Movie Recommendations – Luke Kapeluck, BSc., E.I.T.

Below are a list of my recommended movies. They’re in order of the amount I’d recommend them, with the the better ones at the top and the ones I wouldn’t really recommend at the bottom.

Yes I like movies. People often ask for recomendations on what to watch, so here they are.

This is not a comprehensive list. Just stuff I’ve watched since making this list in 2022.

5	Bullet Train	2022	Action, Thriller	N/A	A man nicknamed “ladybug” enters a Japanese bullet train for a really simple job to pick up a brief case with a lot of money and exit the train. What seems simple, spirals incredibly downward very fast.
6	The Lego Movie	2014	Action, Adventure, Animation	N/A	Emmet is an ordinary, not special person until one day he stumbles upon the prophecy that says he is the most interesting special person and he’s the one thing that can stop president business from destroying the world.
7	The Menu	2022	Comedy, Horror	Nah	Margot is invited to a dinner that’s $1250 a head. The chef? A man who has everything planned for every guest except Margot.
8	Poltergeist	1982	Horror, Thriller	Hardly	A ghost lives in a house and communicates through the residents’ TV.
9	Prey	2022	Action, Drama, Horror	Nah	The predator, an alien from another planet, encounters the Indigenous people and settlers. The predator aims to hunt the most dangerous thing he can.
10	Jennifer’s Body	2009	Comedy, Horror	Nah	Jennifer is sacrificed by a satanic cult rock band, and becomes a killer monster. Very goofy.
11	It Follows	2014	Horror, Mystery, Thriller	Kinda	After having sex, a girl is told that she is next in a long line of people being hunted by a supernatural, shapeshifting entity, that will always walk towards her, trying to kill her. If she dies, the entity starts to hunt the person before her. Will she survive? Will she pass it on?
12	M3GAN	2023	Horror, Sci-Fi, Thriller	Hardly	Cady is a young girl whose parents recently passed away. She moves in with her aunt who develops a robot named M3GAN whose only goal is to protect Cady (even if it involves a murder or two).
13	Nope	2022	Horror, Mystery, Sci-Fi	Hardly	A family with a long history in film owns a horse ranch. There are very mysterious things going on, and the man and his sister aim to figure out what’s going on.

15	Silent Hill	2006	Horror, Mystery	Hardly	A child is experiencing nightmares about a place called Silent Hill. The wife/mother thinks it might be a good idea to take the child there to see it, for therapy. But Silent Hill is a very mysterious place covered in smoke, and things start to go wrong.
16	Orphan	2009	Horror, Mystery, Thriller	Hardly	A family adopts a girl named Esther. She turns out to be very strange and does things very scary and violent for a child. Is there something about her that’s not known?
17	Oculus	2013	Horror, Mystery	Kinda	A mirror that causese people to suffer illusions and traumatized a boy and a girl by possessing their mother and father. The girl aims to prove the mirror is truly magic.
18	Coherence	2013	Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi	Nah	A casual dinner party, but with a meteor shower that ends up shutting off all electricity. Something strange is happening, and they should try to stay indoors (but they don’t).
19	Minions: The Rise of Gru	2022	Adventure, Animation, Comedy	N/A	Gru wants to be a super villain, and with the help of the minions he makes enemies with a villain gang.
20	Black Panther: Wakanda Forever	2022	Action, Adventure, Drama	N/A	Wakanda is dealing with the loss of its king and protector, The Black Panther. How will its nation survive when faced with new challenges?
21	Pearl	2022	Horror	Hardly	Peal is a young woman that just wants to be a star more than anything in the world. Her old fashioned mother and life at home, on the farm seems to be holding her back. She will do ANYTHING to become a star, even if it means murder.
22	Cracked	2022	Horror, Thriller	Hardly	A little girl is losing her vision gradually. The mother comes across a series of paintings that she wants to sell. Something is very mysterious about the paintings, although.
23	Prey for the Devil	2022	Horror, Thriller	Hardly	A nun, Sister Ann grew up with a mother possessed by a demon. As a result, Ann joined the Catholic church and wants to specialize in exorcism.
24	Thor: Love and Thunder	2022	Action, Adventure, Comedy	N/A	Thor is no longer fat. Jane, Korg, Thor, and the gang fight Gorr, the God Butcher who has been killing other gods.
25	Lullaby	2026	Horror	Hardly	A husband and wife have a new baby “Eli”. They get ahold of the wife’s sister’s lullaby book with an old Hebrew lullaby that summons a demon to steal your baby.
26	Men	2022	Drama, Fantasy, Horror	Hardly	A woman wants to have a calming retreat out in a small village in the UK after the suicide of her husband. Stalkers, weird people, and more, get in the way, however.
